John Turner won the Oregon State Tournament as a second year high school debater. As a Dartmouth debater, John was in late elimination rounds of several major tournaments, including the Harvard finals. He was awarded a first round at-large bid recipient to the NDT, reaching the octo-finals there and later the semi-finals of CEDA nationals. As a Dartmouth College coach, John has coached teams to the late elimination rounds of major national tournaments, including the final round of CEDA nationals three times. In addition to coaching 12 teams to qualifying for the NDT, he has coached six first round at-large bid recipients, two NDT double octo-finalists, three NDT octo-finals and two NDT quarter-finalists.
John Turner currently studies Speech Communication as an M.A. candidate and debate coach at the University of Georgia.
Mr. Turner has earned considerable accolades as a teacher for both his patience and his ability to make even the most complex philosophical material both appealing and accessible to all debaters.
